Digestive discomfort, bloating, gas, and irregular motility are among the most common concerns I see in clinic, and they are also among the most responsive to herbal medicine. The digestive system is enormously influenced by the nervous system, which is why stress so reliably manifests in the gut. SU CHI DIGESTION was formulated to address both: the mechanical function of the digestive tract and the nervous tone that governs it.
This blend is built around three categories of digestive herbs. Carminatives, including Fennel, Aniseed, Ginger, Caraway, and Dill, relax the smooth muscle of the gut, support bile flow, and relieve trapped gas and bloating. Chamomile provides direct anti-inflammatory action on the gut lining, soothing irritated mucosal tissue. Lemon Balm bridges digestion and the nervous system, calming the nervous-gut axis that drives stress-related digestive upset.
The result is a tea that works well both as a post-meal ritual and as a response to acute digestive discomfort. Its naturally sweet, aromatic flavour from fennel and aniseed makes it one of the most pleasurable blends in the collection.
The backbone of this blend. Fennel is a powerful carminative that relaxes intestinal spasm, supports bile production for fat digestion, and relieves bloating and gas. Its natural sweetness makes it a pleasure to drink.
A classic digestive and nervine herb. Chamomile soothes the gut lining with gentle anti-inflammatory action, reduces intestinal spasm, and calms the nervous system component of digestive distress. Effective for both IBS-type symptoms and general digestive upset.
An uplifting nervine with direct digestive benefit. Lemon Balm calms the nervous-gut axis, making it particularly effective for those whose digestive symptoms worsen under stress, anxiety, or emotional pressure.
A gentle carminative with a naturally sweet, licorice-like flavour. Aniseed supports the release of trapped gas, reduces bloating, and complements the action of Fennel throughout the digestive tract.
A warming digestive tonic with well-documented anti-nausea and prokinetic properties. Ginger stimulates gastric motility, ensuring food moves efficiently through the digestive system without stagnation.
A potent antispasmodic and carminative. Caraway relaxes smooth muscle tension in the intestinal wall, making it particularly effective for cramping, spasm, and the uncomfortable gripping that accompanies trapped gas.
A gentle carminative herb that soothes the digestive tract and supports the natural movement of gas through the intestines. Dill rounds out the aromatic profile of this blend while adding mild digestive support.

Use 1 heaped teaspoon (approximately 3g) per cup. This blend works well drunk warm after each main meal as a digestive ritual, or as needed when discomfort arises. The naturally sweet aroma of Fennel and Aniseed fills the cup beautifully on a longer steep.
