About This Formula

Modern life asks a great deal of the nervous system. Chronic low-grade stress, disrupted sleep, anxious thought patterns, and the physical tension that lives in the body are patterns I see in almost every consultation. SU CHI NERVOUS was formulated for this reality: not to sedate or suppress, but to genuinely restore the nervous system's capacity to regulate itself.

The herbs in this blend are all classic nervines, selected for their complementary mechanisms and their ability to work together without causing the heavy, dulling quality that some people associate with sedative herbs. Chamomile sits at the foundation, gently easing tension and inflammation in the nervous tissue. Lemon Balm lifts the mood while calming anxious thought, a combination rarely found together in a single herb. Passionflower is the clinical workhorse here, with genuine evidence for interrupting the anxious spiral and supporting deep, restorative rest. Skullcap addresses the physical holding of tension, particularly in the neck, shoulders, and jaw. Lemon Myrtle, an Australian native, adds a final lift of bright, citrus-like aroma that uplifts without stimulating.

This is the blend I reach for when the body and mind need to remember how to soften.

Key Ingredients

Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla)

The gold standard nervine. Chamomile gently eases tension without causing sedation, making it appropriate throughout the day. Its anti-inflammatory action extends to the nervous tissue itself, and it is one of the most widely studied herbs for anxiety and sleep support.

Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis)

An uplifting nervine that eases anxious thoughts while maintaining mental presence and clarity. Lemon Balm works gently on GABA pathways, reducing the nervous over-arousal that underlies anxious thinking without the fog of stronger sedatives.

Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata)

The clinical-strength nervine in this blend. Passionflower has demonstrated genuine effectiveness for anxiety and sleep onset in peer-reviewed trials. It interrupts the spiral of anxious thought and supports deeper, more restorative sleep without morning grogginess.

Skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora)

A potent nervine tonic with a specific affinity for tension held in the body. Skullcap eases the physical manifestation of chronic stress: the tight jaw, clenched shoulders, and braced muscles that accumulate with ongoing nervous system overload.

Lemon Myrtle (Backhousia citriodora)

An aromatic Australian native added in a small but meaningful quantity. Lemon Myrtle provides a bright citrus lift to the blend's flavour and aroma, adding an uplifting quality that balances the deeper calming action of the other herbs.
